OSSRC Referee Re-Certification Program
The Ohio South State Referee Committee (OSSRC) has adopted a Referee Recertification Training program for USSF experienced Grade 7 and 8 Referees, which is being inaugurated for the 2009 registration year.
Dealing with sideline abuse
Brian Hall became a referee at age 13. He earned his FIFA badge at age 31, officiated at a World Cup and numerous major international tournaments, and earned MLS's Referee of the Year honor four times.
OSSRC Clinics
The OSSRC presents an advanced referee and an assessor/instructor clinic to be held the weekend of August 2-3, 2008.
Referee Night at the Crew
The OSSRC and the OHSAA present Referee Night at the Crew. The game will be Thursday, 17 July 2008 at 8:00 PM. The Crew will take on the Kansas City Wizards at the Crew Stadium.

New OSI Referee Uniform Frequently Asked Questions
CHICAGO (January 18, 2008) - For several years now, U.S. Soccer and Official Sports International, its referee uniform supplier have been receiving feedback that it was time for a “fresh” uniform design and more color choices. The international standard for new design and colors revolves around the World Cup and is every four years, but there are a number of countries that introduce new designs each year.

PREMIER REPORT: Bad precedent set by Hackett in incident involving Styles
LONDON — Rob Styles went to work last Sunday and made a human error.
Unfortunately for Styles he is a Premier League referee and they are not permitted to get anything wrong without public examination and humiliation.

Hall of Fame
The first Annual Southern Ohio Adult Soccer Association Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on Sunday September 2, 2007 at the Columbus Crew Soccer Stadium. The inductees are:

OSSRC Announces Adult Referee of the Year
The Ohio South State Referee Committee announced that Ted Patterson has been neamed as the Adult Referee of the Year.
OSSRC Announces Youth Referees of the Year
The Ohio South State Referee Committee announced that Brittany Lyn Goode and Casey Evan Leet as Ohio South Youth Soccer Association Female and Male Youth Referees of the Year. The two were each presented with a certificate and a referee gear bag.
Brittany Goode is a sophomore at Springboro High School. Miss Goode hopes to study accounting in college after graduation.
Her parents are Tim and Michelle Goode of Springboro, Ohio. Brittany has an older sister Jade, 18.
Casey Evan Leet took top honors this year as the Male Youth Referee of the Year. Casey is a freshman at Wright State University. He is also employed by Tim Horton Coffee Shops.
When asked about his thoughts on being a soccer referee, Casey said, "I like refereeing because it is a sport that I love to be around. I like playing it, watching it and refereeing it. You never get bored when you are out there on the field and there is nothing more exciting than a close game coming down to the wire. The thing I like best about being a referee has to be when your crew calls a good game and gets complemented by both coaches. I want to continue to referee for as long as I can."
Casey Leet's parents are Roger and Belinda Leet of Bellbrook, Ohio. Casey has two older sisters, Allison, 21, and Jennifer Amrine, 27.
The Youth Referees of the Year are selected by DASOA officers based upon recommendations of peers, their dedication to the game and evaluations of their on-field performance by USSF Assessors. The Awards were presented during the Dayton Area Soccer Officials Association (DASOA) Annual General Meeting held on January 17th at Fairborn High School in Fairborn, Ohio.
Attention League Directors, Presidents, Assignors, Tournament Directors, and Tournament Assignors
The United States Soccer Federation (USSF) has a mandatory policy that only certified and registered Referee Assignors may appoint or assign referees to USSF competitive matches. This applies to both USSF league play (Amateur and Youth Select) and all USSF tournaments.

Determining a Winner in State Cup Matches
Referees:
There has been some confusion regarding the determining of a winner in a US Youth Soccer Ohio
South State Cup Match. FIFA and USSF have determined that OSYSA may not use "Golden Goal" in
determining a winner.
If a game is tied after regulation time 2 overtime periods must be played in their entirety. If the match is still tied, kicks from the mark shall be used to determine the winner.
There may be several versions of prior rules in the possession of coaches, administrators, etc. Disregard any references (implied or stated) of "Golden Goal".
